Frankly, I think Sarah did the right thing for her state and her family. The constant smear jobs and personal attacks from the media, the left, AND the GOP chip away at her credibility -- not because there is any real substance to them but from sheer attrition. Thanks to the media blitz, the first thing many people think of when they think "Sarah Palin" is "David Letterman, pregnant daughter, white trash relatives etc." Combine that with the frivolous ethics complaints that the people of Alaska are footing the bill for and Sarah has to divert attention from running the state to deal with that idiocy and you've made her political opponents lives very easy. They can throw so much BS out as chaff to distract from the issues and she has to try and answer that.
With Sarah out of the crosshairs (for a while) the media might have to actually cover the actions of our president, instead of covering for him.
